Sajani Amarasiri

Updated: Feb 2, 2019

Sajani Amarasiri is a yes-kind-of-person. She says yes, and then revels in the process of making it work.

It’s her superpower and it came in handy when she wasn’t sure about her decision to move to the U.S at the age of 18.

It was a yes, when a mentor asked Sajani if she’d leave a job she loved for something she was destined for; working for herself and leaving a legacy.

In episode four of Brown Girl in the Ring we speak to Sajani about her life growing up in Sri Lanka, studying in America when you’re terribly homesick, and putting in the hard yards. We also find out why she is returning to Sri Lanka to establish a culture shifting business with Colombo Cooperative.

Sajani also shared a few names of people she admires and takes her lead from, including her parents who helped form her feminist mindset. She also mentioned two business leaders who have helped her foster her sense of self throughout her career.

We've found a few links to articles about Indra Nooyi and Satya Nadella which may be of interest to you as well.
